What is Permanent Make-up?

Permanent make-up (also known as pigment implantation) is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to conventional make-up. Although often referred to as 'cosmetic tattooing', permanent make-up is not nearly as invasive as tattooing, as it never removes, abrades or damages the epidermis. Tiny individual implants of pigment or vegetable dye (100% organic) are deposited into the top layer of the skin (epidermis)

As the application is invasive, there may be some discomfort, varying according to each individual. Topical anaesthetic is used if necessary.

Permanent make-up can be used by ANYONE - from the young to the elderly. An application usually takes one and a half to two and a half hours. The process includes an initial consultation and medical history check, then the application of pigment and one or two follow-up visits for any adjustment of shape, colour or density of the pigment.

Although permanent make-up cannot be washed off, some fading may occur, so periodic maintenance (after 5 - 6 years) may be necessary.

Some factors like the sun's UV rays, tanning booths, some drugs, excessively dry skin, smoking and personal illness could negatively influence the longevity of permanent make-up.

Gudrun Rautner, owner of 'Lasting Lines' also specializes in 'natural collagen activation'. This is a wrinkle reduction treatment, also called 'needling' which provides effective rejuvenation of skin without invasive surgical procedures. Cosmetic tattoos or 'temptatoos' - very popular with the younger generation - are also performed by Gudrun.
