Are you keen to become more involved in your community, have fun and meet new people while doing so? Then why not join your local LEO Club?

WHO ARE LEOs?

No it has nothing to do with the stars!

Leo clubs are made up of young adults who want to:

PROJECTS/FUNDRAISERS/EVENTS

The upcoming One-to-One day is held at the Good Hope Centre in August. This is a fun day organised bi-annually for 4000 mentally handicapped people to enjoy playing simple games for which they receive a prize every time they play. Our prizes consisted of teddies, sweets and chips.

Every year the Leo clubs all join forces to man a hamburger stall at the Maynardville Community Chest Carnival, the profits of which go to the Community. This year we raised in excess of R12 000 over the four nights!!! It's hard work, but always fun!

The de Tyger Leos visited Lawrence House which is a home for abandoned refugees. They spent time some time socialising with them and gave them sweets and chocolates which were a great treat!

Tokai took a group of children from the Wittebome School for the Deaf to Monkey Town in Somerset West. With a specially guided tour, and a sign-language interpreter, the kids learnt lots about these amazing animals. Afterwards they enjoyed a braai held in the Tokai forest.

Kirstenbosch annually organises a Diabetic Kiddies’ Camp. Besides learning more about their illness and the importance of a correct diet and taking their medicine, the kids have lots of fun visiting the beach and doing arts ‘n crafts.

A couple of the Leo clubs helped with marshalling at the Blisters for Bread big walk, which raises funds for the Cape Peninsula School Feeding Schemes. Some clubs manned water points while others helped hand out medals at the finishing line.

An underprivileged group of children, who until recently lived in a caravan park, were taken to Mini Cape in Kraaifontein for a Christmas in July party by the Durbanville Leos. They all played games, each had the chance to ride on a pony and enjoyed a delicious lunch where after they were given Christmas presents.

The Worcester Leo club organised a soccer day with participants from various poor communities and a local children’s home.
