| Ons Plek is situated in the city where street children ‘stroll’. The girls hear about us from the public and come for help. Before there was a shelter, girls had been on the streets for a period of 3 years. Street life was a deeply ingrained habit. Due to our existence most girls now find their way to us within a day to two weeks, which makes it easier for them to leave street life. Since our doors opened we have helped an average of 150 new girls per year. Were we not here, a large proportion of these girls would still be on the streets. |
