Robin Auld plays at Villa Pascal House of Music Durbanville on Fri 19 Oct
Well known to South African audiences from his hits Love Kills, All of woman, Zen Surfing and many others, Robin Auld's sound has evolved from the pop production values of his earlier work to the contemporary mix of roots and melody that characterizes his sound today. Born to Ayrshire Scots parents in Zambia, his childhood alternated between Scotland and Southern Africa. He learned to play guitar by listening to Jimi Hendrix and Neil Young, and was later influenced by the guitarists of Southern Africa such as Philip Tabane and Madala Kunene. He released two albums in SA in 2006, Jungle of One and Diamond of a Day. Diamond received excellent British press and has just secured distribution in the UK. In SA he has been promoting his new album "Jungle of one", called one of his best yet by the SA critics. He has just finished a run at the Grahamstown festival with sold out shows at the Old Mutual Encounters series, playing alongside Koos Kombuis and Karen Zoid.
Tickets R70. Show starts at 19h00.
